Overview:
The Sorcerer is one of the most Utilitarian Casters in the game. Yet despite all their tools the class remains still one of low population and player retention.
Concerns:
Survivability - Cloth casters survivability depends on staying out of reach of the enemy and dealing damage quickly. We hope that the upcoming reviews and or rework of Resists and Realm Abilities are able to address these concerns.
Epic Encounters - The rate of resists in high level PvE encounters for our Lifetap, Dot's, Snare/dds and debuffs have reduced the Sorcerer to wielding their staff in melee or providing mana regen as their only group contribution, as opposed to using the above mentioned spells, including their class defining crowd control abilities.
Spec line Issues:
1. Mind - The recent changes to the Mind line have aided the class greatly. There are still a few concerns though.
A. Amnesia - power consumption versus its counter parts.
B. Mana Regen - Being over written by the Minstrels Pulsing version
C. Charmed Pets - Wide variety of pets to choose from, but poor pet selection or no pet selection at all in Dungeon areas and High Traffic RvR areas. (Ie City of Avalon, Caer Sidi, and more recently most Atlantis Trial Encounters and Dungeons for PvE, Hibernia for RvR).
D. Confusion - Confusion has no use in RvR and has been adjusted in PvE to make it all but worthless. With Mob immunity and no utility in the RvR arena this spell needs to be reworked to provide a viable utilization in both PvE and RvR.
2. Body - The most balanced line of the Sorcerer, Body is one of the most popular major specs.
A. As per feedback the spec 20 single target root in body has been bugged.
B. Power Consumption - Power costs on our stat debuffs are 8 to 10 points or higher versus similar spells in other realms.
3. Matter - The remaining Matter Sorcs understand that review of their chosen spec is not high priority at this time, but would still like to keep the following in the forefront.
A. No keep door damage (bugged as requested)
B. No secondary form of CC
C. Bad spec distribution with main DD at spec lvl 40 and 49, limiting to 40Matter/3X Mind/Body as only real viable specs.
Loss of elemental debuffs
New Issues:
The release of Trials of Atlantis has left the class base feeling like an afterthought in the design process. The extreme number of completely immune or highly resistant mobs to Crowd Control coupled with the lack of accessible Charmable mobs in the Encounter Areas plus already extreme resists that exist in Epic Scale PvE to Lifetaps and debuffs, find the Sorcerer delegated to being a mana regen bot instead of contributing to their realm in an active and fun manner. In effect one of the highest utility casters in the game feel that their toolbox has been reduced to smoke and mirrors.
Other Issues:
Class RA - Corporeal Disintegration - Though our only form of AoE damage this RA is rarely used by a class that wholly bases their survival on their Crowd Control abilities, suggest instead another form of Crowd Control. We are open to discussion.
Epic Armor - The Sorcerer shares the identical skin for their armor with the Wizards, the only difference being colorization, a difference generally negated upon the purchase of dye pots. The class is awaiting the unveiling of their unique armor as per this discussion
