1.0 Overview
The Spiritmaster (SM) is still a fairly well-rounded caster class. The major issue continues to be the lack of RvR usefulness of the Spirit Enhancement spec line, as well as a the high resists in RvR and lack of usefulness in epic level PvE that all casters suffer from..
2.0 Concerns
2.1 Role in Epic level raids
Due to high resist rates Spiritmasters (and casters in general) often find that swinging their staves is a more effective means of doing damage when fighting "epic" level mobs. Casters should not have to resort to swinging their staves to be effective. This is even more pronounced in light of the Battle-Group battles required for Master Levels Trials.
2.2 Realm-castable Damage Shield
The Gift of the Fallen line of realm-castable damage shields is not very useful. Short duration (60sec), short range, and long casting time (4sec) all contribute to this spell not being useful in RvR and having minimal use in PvE.
2.3 Pet AI / Pathing in ToA
There are many places in the new ToA zones where the pet AI fails and the pet refuses to move or takes a very roundabout path to the target. Often times when the pet is told to Attack, it will go into attack-mode but will not move.
Underwater pathing can be very spotty at times, especially when traveling over things on the ocean floor such as rocks or pillars.
2.4 Pet snare-proc
As previously reported, this proc does not go off very often at all. Maybe once out of every 8 or so attacks. Logs were made, but the snare does not report a message on the Spiritmaster or the target when it goes off so the logs were not of much value. By comparasion, the other four procs (DD, lifetap, stun, BT) were going off much more often.
3.0 Specline Issues
3.1 Darkness
The duration of the PB and ranged AE mezzes continues to be a concern for Darkness SMs. As "secondary" mezzes they are already somewhat short. With high spell resists on many, and Determination on others, these spells serve to give enemies the 1min immunity without stopping them for any appreciable length of time.
3.2 Summoning
The primary issue facing the Summoning spec'd SM is inability to perform in RvR. The pet-Intercept is a great ability, but is available to all SMs. To try and take advantage of the buffs and pet-centric spells in Summoning, the Summon-SM cannot take advantage of the pet-Intercept. The "intercept-Bot" concept works for Dark and Supp SMs, but not for Summon-SMs as they rely on sending the pet out to attack. The pet's damage output is also low, and the pet is easily killed via spell damage. The Summon SM does not have anything to make him "stand out".
4.0 New Issues
Trials of Atlantis introduced many mobs that are designed "against" casters. Mobs with mez-immunity, mobs with immunity to specific damage types or all spell damage, mobs that the pet cannot get aggro from. All serve to make a caster's life in ToA an unhappy one. On the melee side, there do not seem to be as many things that make them less useful (which would somewhat balance out all the negative caster things).
5.0 Other Issues
5.1 PBAoE spell cannot be cast with a item targeted.
5.2 PBAoE mez icon same as the ranged AE mez icon.
5.3 Radius of dex/qui debuff smaller than that of str/con debuff.
5.4 Pet does not use Valkyn or Frostalf models.
5.5 Pet stun proc does not have a graphic.
5.6 Epic sleeves cause graphics glitch with cloak (at neck).
6.0 Item Problems
None to report.
7.0 Documentation Issues
7.1 The Herald Spell Library does not show the range of Gife of the Fallen line, and the in-game Delve info does not have the range either.
