An alpha among the Gods, Fenrir swipes his way in to SMITE.
The ferocious wolf-god Fenrir is the latest edition to Hi-Rez Studio's free-to-play MOBA, SMITE. He's not exactly the most cute and cuddly wolfman you'll ever play with, but what he lacks in charm he makes up for with his extremely strong abilities and the incredible amount of damage he can dish out.
Fenrir is a melee Bruiser/Assassin who will set you back 200 gems or 5500 favor. His passive and core mechanic, Unbound Runes, focuses on stacking a set of runes, with each of his abilities gaining a buff once he reaches five stacks. Every time Fenrir attacks using a basic attack he activates one rune. If he uses a buffed ability, his runes will be consumed, but if an enemy God dies near Fenrir, all of his runes will become fully activated.
SMITE is an online battleground between gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. SMITE is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITEīs battlegrounds.
The wolf-god's first usable ability, Unchained, allows Fenrir to leap forward and deal damage in an area where he lands. With a full set of runes, he also stuns the enemies he hits. His second ability, Seething Howl, gives the God a physical power and lifesteal buff, which is increased by 50% at full runes.
Brutalize is Fenrir's third move, allowing him to pounce the ground at a target location and if an enemy is there, he slashes them four times, dealing more damage with each strike and becoming immune to knock-ups. At full runes this move is pretty devastating, allowing Fenrir to also deal 75% damage to nearby enemies.
Fenrir's ultimate ability, Ragnarok, is absolutely epic. Upon activation, Fenrir grows to three times his original stature and becomes immune to crowd control abilities. When he's in this massive form, he can bite and pick up enemy gods with his massive fangs and carry them away from a battle, which is pretty funny to watch. With full runes, his protections in his uber-powerful form double. If he has double protection, he can make a safe getaway or even run in and take helpless prey away from a battle.

For those of you who aren't dog lovers, Fenrir wasn't the only addition to SMITE in the latest patch. It also added new skins, custom voice packs for Neith (and Fenrir), as well as additional changes and tweaks to spectator mode, maps, and active items. You can check out the full patch notes on the official SMITE website.
