Stop the monstrosity called Stormtalon from coming back to life in WildStar's first dungeon.
WildStar is quickly shaping up to be "the next big thing" in the MMO space, at least according to me. It's looking great, the developers are really listening to beta feedback, and it has all of the fixings to become a truly grand experience. Whenever we get the chance to learn about a new zone or area in the game it's exciting, but this week was extra special as Carbine unveiled WildStar's first dungeon, Stormtalon's Lair.
Get ready, as we're about to nerd out with some WildStar lore.
Stormtalon's Lair is located in the heart of Galeras, at the southern end of WildStar's Gale Canyon. It's a huge cave watched over by a primitive native Nexus tribe called the Thundercall Pell who worship elemental powers. They believe in deities called "the Masters" and know a lot about Eldan technology.
Recently, the Exile Academy of Science detected a strange energy source coming from the cave. Of course, researchers must always find the source of strange energy, so a team went to investigate and unfortunately never returned, only leaving scattered reports to shed light on a weird ritual that the Pell are performing deep inside the lair.
As it turns out, this is a ritual that has been passed down from Pell ancestors and, using an ancient Eldan incubator called the Godmaker, the Pell can transform one of their followers in to a dangerous monster called Stormtalon.
In WildStar, the legendary planet Nexus has been found. As the opposed forces of the Exiles and Dominion rush to capture it and its secrets you must pick your side and join in the fight to unlock the planet's secrets.
They don't have the power to do it yet, but have been developing it over thousands of years on Nexus, where WildStar takes place. However, now that the event is near, the Pell have all gone insane with religious fervor and will attack anyone on sight.
To further drive outsiders away, the Thundercall High Priest has summoned a huge elemental named Aethros and directed him to kill any outsiders immediately. It will be up to players to destroy the Thundercall High Priest if they want to stop Stormtalon from being born and causing all sorts of terrible trouble.
As the first dungeon in the game, the story behind Stormtalon's Lair seems pretty interesting. No word on how many bosses or what kind of loot will be found in the instance yet, but killing a bunch of crazy cult members (in a VIDEO GAME) always seems like a good time to me.
You can read more about Stormtalon's Lair on the official WildStar site.
