Hop on your Harasser Buggy and check out all the new stuff in PlanetSide 2.
The time has come for PlanetSide 2 fans who have been waiting to test out the Harasser Buggy and other features coming in PS2's huge Update 08. The update went live this week and it's the largest to the game update since launch, adding new vehicles, MAX updates, balance and tuning changes and UI updates, as well as some bug fixes for good measure.
The Harasser buggy was previously seen on the PlanetSide 2 test servers, but now it's officially out and three players at a time can use the lightly-armored highly mobile vehicle to quickly roam around battlefields. It's designed for hit-and-run attacks and has seats for a driver, a gunner, and a rumble seat which can hold any infantry class, including MAXes.
"Some cool tactics are opened up with the Harasser," said Creative Director Matt Higby. "Some of my favorites so far are to use them with Burster MAXes as a fast moving AA response, equipping a Gate Shield Diffuser to soften up defenders in a courtyard before sending in troops to blow the gens, or of course, using the Turbo to launch yourself over cliffs to your firey death - which isn't so much a tactic, but it's still pretty fun."
Fight for your Empire, in this space opera combat game. Join the Terrans, the Vanu or the New Conglomerate, and help bring your faction glory and fame!
From the developer: "Battles take place not between dozens of troops, but thousands; with air and ground vehicles slugging it out alongside squads of troops. Whether in open fields, tightly packed urban centers or enormous structures, planning, teamwork and communication are essential."
The game is free to play, but you have the option of buying extras - cosmetic and convenience stuff - in game.
This is only available on PC for the moment, but there's been talk of a Mac port.
Game Update 08 also adds the new empire-specific MAX AV weapons and MAX cosmetic items, including a set of two helmets and one new set of armor for each empire MAX. MAXes are Mechanized Assault Exo-Suits and are basically heavy mech armor suits that can equip heavy personal weapons. Each empire also gets a new infantry helmet which will work on all non-MAX classes.
