Come explore the depths of Neverwinter's highest-level zone.
Neverwinter is the hot new MMO craze ever since it went in to Open Beta about a week ago. Folks are leveling up with fervor, and soon enough they'll be able to explore the Whispering Caverns, one of the highest level zones in the free-to-play MMO from Cryptic. The developer recently let loose some details on The Whispering Caverns and even released a video of the zone.
It's been over century since the Spellplague forever changed The Forgotten Realms. Now, explore the city that's been at the center of a thousand adventures: Neverwinter. Adapted from the real Dungeons and Dragon's ruleset, Neverwinter will feature action-oriented combat and storytelling unlike any other MMO. Take the world in your hands with the Foundry toolset and make your own tales. Make your mark in this legendary world.
The Whispering Caverns is a high-level zone for players around the level 60 cap. It's a labyrinth of tunnels located far below the city of Neverwinter and through the Underdark passages. As the lore goes, dark elves reside in the Caverns, working to reclaim their stronghold and unleash ancient evil.
In The Whispering Caverns, players can explore the once abandoned drow city of Zesraena which has now been taken over by the vicious drow of House Xorlarrin. Not only will you find those hidden away in the city, but evil gray dwarves, known as the duergar, have also taken root.
The other enemy players need to watch out for in The Whispering Caverns are the squid-like mind flayers known as illithids. This is the first zone where mind flayers make an appearance, and the horrifying creatures can use psionic abilities to make slaves out of other races. It will be up to players to destroy them and stop them from raising an ancient evil from its prison.
