Participate in the weekly SMITE tournament for your chance to win a thousand bucks.
Hi-Rez Studios' have always been very supportive of eSports and have constantly tried to integrate their unique free-to-play MOBA SMITE with online tournaments. However, after the first major series held by the World Online Gaming League (WOGL) and the myRevenge SMITE tournament series failed, Hi-Rez have finally taken it upon themselves to host their own tournament.
The SMITE Tournament Series will be a weekly tournament for North American and European teams with $1000 in prizing awarded across each region every week. The games will be broadcast for free on Twitch.tv and North American coverage begins at 12 PM EST every Saturday.
SMITE is an online battleground between gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. SMITE is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITEīs battlegrounds.
Considering Hi-Rez just hosted a huge $10,000 SMITE tournament at PAX East, they seem to know what they're doing and how to generate interest for the continuing success of their tournament series.
