ArenaNet isn't keeping any secrets about their Southsun content update.
In keeping with tradition, ArenaNet has announced another content update chock full of goodies. Guild Wars 2 may be free-to-play, but the game has seen a steady drip of content since January-one that doesn't seem to be slowing down. Having just released Retribution, the last installment of the Flame and Frost living story, the guys behind GW2 are chugging along at full speed. This update is the fifth living story update in as many months and shows once again how committed ArenaNet is to bringing fresh content to fans.
The Secret of Southsun provides an update to GW2's living story (for those who have already cruised through Flame and Frost) as well as a new mini game and some added WvW features (WvW is GW2's special brand of PvP). Southsun introduces traps into WvW along with some other minor features such as more rewards for the things you do in the Mists.
The world of Guild Wars 2 is filled with thousands of dynamic events that constantly change based on the actions of players like you. Fast-paced, action-oriented combat lets you attack on the move, dodge and roll away from enemy blows, team up with other players, and take advantage of environmental weapons to dominate the battlefield! Competitive play in Guild Wars 2 is easy to learn, but offers challenges for new players and hardcore PvPers alike. Guild Wars 2 is your story - your choices determine how your personal story evolves, and with thousands of possible variations, no two players will have the exact same experience.
Other than the greatly appreciated addition to the living story, the ArenaNet team is also working on the elimination of culling in the Living World. It won't make it into Southsun, but soon GW2 will no longer limit how many characters you can see in the Living World. Everyone you see in the Living World actually is everyone in the Living World. And with that many players on screen at a time, I may finally have an excuse to buy a new graphics card.
