Don't miss your last chance to Hulk Smash before June 4.
Marvel Heroes fans get their last chance to check out the game before its June 4th launch this weekend. The game's last open beta before its release runs from this Friday at 5:00 PM PT until Monday at 10:00 AM PT (in case anyone is planning an all-nighter). For those who haven't gotten a chance to check the game out yet, think Diablo II with 100% more Tony Stark.
For the final beta weekend, developer Gazillion Entertainment has announced the starting characters will all be familiar Avengers: Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Black Widow. The jury's still out on Marvel Heroes, but a full cast of Avengers never hurts.
June 4th will mark the end of the drawn out development story behind Heroes. The idea of a Marvel-licensed MMO was proposed back in 2007, but scrapped in 2008 when Microsoft Game Studios decided the MMO market was too competitive for the game to survive. However, after signing a ten-year deal with Marvel in 2009, Gazillion began developing the game not as an MMORPG but as a free-to-play MMO/ARPG in the same vein as Diablo II. Simply put, I've been waiting a long time for this, and June 4th can't come soon enough.
Marvel Heroes is a FREE-TO-PLAY action-packed massively multiplayer online game created by David Brevik, the visionary behind Diablo and Diablo 2. Set in the iconic Marvel Universe, Marvel Heroes combines the core game-play style of Action RPGs and MMOs with the expansive library of heroes from the Marvel Universe. In the game, players can collect and play as their favorite Marvel Superheroes (including Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, Hulk, Spider Man, Captain America and many others). Team up with friends and try to stop Doctor Doom from devastating the world with the power of the Cosmic Cube in a story written by Marvel comic super-scribe Brian Michael Bendis.
