It's time for some fun in the sun, Southsun-style!
ArenaNet is determined to keep delivering a steady flow of fresh content to Guild Wars 2. After their Flame & Frost: Retribution event went so well, they're already releasing another living story update titled The Secret of Southsun, which is available now.
The Secret of Southsun starts where Flame & Frost left off, with the refugees driven from their lands by the Molten Alliance being taken in by The Consortium. However, the Consortium isn't the most ideal place for the refugees, as they've made rules that prevent the newcomers from leaving. On top of that, something is driving the local wildlife crazy and making the animals more aggressive and territorial than ever before. With tensions quickly rising, it will be up to players to help Lionguard's Inspector Kiel keep everyone under control.
Along with story events, The Secret of Southsun update also brings several other new features to the game. These include a new mini-game called Crab Toss and the introduction of traps in to World vs. World PvP.
Crab Toss is a new beach game that the refugees created to keep their mind of their troubles. The mini-game is instanced and tasks players with capturing hermit crabs and withstanding karka attacks. I like to refer to it as Crab Battle.
Traps on the other hand are new weapons that can be purchased from a Traps and Tricks Outfitter on each WvW map. The first traps to be introduced are anti-stealth fields and traps that remove supply from enemy players. More traps are on the way, so stay tuned if these sound like a fun way to get ahead of your competition.
