In a surprise move, a game developer is actually helping out its playerbase.
When EVE Online's next expansion, Odyssey, descends on EVE Online on June 4th, players will be able to pay an additional PLEX to activate 30 days of dual character skill gains. One part of EVE Online that has been difficult to stomach over the years is the fact that you cannot skill up multiple characters at the same time on the same account. In order to level multiple characters at the same time, a player would have to create a new account, create a new character, and train their secondary character. Once they finished training them, they would then have to pay a fee to transfer that character to their main account where they could not gain any more skill points unless they were the active character.
PLEX is one of the most interesting currencies in MMOs in that 1 PLEX equals 30 days of playtime. By paying a PLEX, players will be able to activate 30 days of dual-character training. There are a few particulars that should be mentioned.
First, you can activate dual character training by right-clicking any PLEX in your inventory. This dual-character training is not specific to 2 characters so it can be used to skill up 1 additional character for 7 days and a different character for 23 more. Sadly, CCP is a bit hesitant to allow players to stack dual-character training for too long so for now, this service can only be renewed when the account has 7 days or less time left on the dual character training timer.
While CCP has said that their analysis has shown little impact on the market, it will be interesting to see if PLEX demand changes.
