The mutant from the future, Cable, is playable in the beta of Marvel Heroes now.
Update: Gazillion was able to release the image below which shows Cable's costume more clearly and gives some insight on which issue the costume came from.
Original: Time is advancing quickly for the release of Gazillion's action RPG/MMO hybrid Marvel Heroes. The team led by COO and Creative Director David Brevik - who designed Diablo II - is busy putting the finishing touches on, and have had to make some tough decisions to leave some heroes out like the Human Torch, but the most recent patch added a comic fan favorite in Cable.
"We added Cable to the game, we're very excited about this," Brevik told me in a interview today. "He's a lot of fun, he's got a bunch of really great powers. I think that for the most part he plays as a ranged character, which is, given his lore, what you would expect but also he has a lot of mental abilities that throw people back and stun people. He's got a good combination of pushing people away and keeping them at range. You can use Cable to lock down different groups of enemies at range."
Brevik and the team enjoyed bringing the son of the X-men's Scott (Cyclops) Summers and Madelyne Pryor to life. "He's been a lot of fun to work on and he's got some healing powers with his techno arsenal, that kind of stuff. The design really stays true to the character and I like him a lot," he said.
Brevik wasn't able to divulge complete details on all of Cable's powers and abilities, but Gazillion plans releasing all that information soon for all you min-maxers out there. I'll be writing up the rest of our interview with David Brevik with all the latest on the endgame that's planned for Marvel Heroes when it comes out on June 4th.
