Players will be able to try out Dawngate sooner than we thought.
Dawngate, the new MOBA from EA and Waystone Games was only semi-announced a week ago, and now it's already headed in to closed beta. WayStone Games announced that Dawngate will enter closed beta on May 24, and hopes players will enjoy the unique gameplay mechanics they've come up with.
Dawngate's Champions are called Shapers and they each have their own distinct abilities. When selecting a Shaper, players will also get to select roles and perks based on the role they play. For example, a laning character can select a perk to earn more money from killing lane minions.
Dawngate will feature a two-lane map that will have a story of its own. The towers on the map, called Bindings, can regenerate once destroyed, but while your Binding is regenerating, the other team's minions become stronger. The center of the map is a labyrinth that's supposed to be for ambushes.
Dawngate is a new MOBA, built from the ground up to look and feel familiar while offering a whole new way to experience MOBA gameplay. Dawngate empowers you to forge the champions you love for the roles you want in a competitive arena, shaped by ever-evolving, community-driven content and story.
Dawngate's map also features four resource gathering elements called Spirit Wells located around the corner of the map. Each team starts off with two Spirit Wells under their control and over time, little workers generate energy in to a currency called Vim which provides extra income to your team. Spirit Wells can be captured by the enemy team, adding a new element to the standard type of MOBA play.
To win a match in Dawngate, you don't have to simply destroy the other team's base. Instead, there's a huge guardian inside each team's base and it will be up to your team to kill it. The idea is that you and your teammates have to take on an enemy like Roshan or Baron, as well as the enemy team in their own base, in order to emerge victorious.
