Asherons Call: Take Caution When Recruiting

| 28 Jun 2002 03:24

I've debated long and hard tonight about reporting this. It's a malicious act against other players whether you agree with them or not. Res Ispa Loquitor dropped me a line about it, and I think he said it best:

Some people came up with an interesting response to the often-touted rational for large xp-chains, namely, "It's in the game." They infiltrated two large xp-chains and, after breaking from their chain patron, ran a macro that used the /allegiance command to break every single patron/vassal relationship underneath them. It is a very interesting case of people using an exploit to punish other people using exploits. Of course, such malicious behavior would have little effect on an active player base (they would be able to re-pledge themselves fairly quickly) it is only when you start talking about cross-server trades and other techniques used for exploiting rank and/or loyalty bonus that makes the behavior particularly damaging.

I'm not so sure I agree that it would be simple for an active player base to reform. If someone were out of town when rent came do, well, it could be ugly. Try to remember, we're all here to have fun. Spoiling it for others isn't the purpose of any game.
