Nerd Kingdom hellbent on turning your gold into virtual lead.
If you're a fan of Fullmetal Alchemist, you are familiar with the concept of equivalent exchange. You know, everything manipulated by the power of alchemy must be traded with the ambivalent power behind it. In essence, balanced raw material can be traded for things; abstract, or even darker. Thanks to the additional money generated by Paypal donations, Nerd Kingdom has met their first TUG stretch goal to add alchemy to the game. At $300,000, Nerd Kingdom has begun coding for a beta build of TUG set to be released in January of 2014. TUG is set to be officially released in January of 2015.
Nerd Kingdom is a collection of modders, academics, programmers, game designers, and musicians set on trying to create a game that uses social data and video game metrics in a better way. Their first game, TUG is an attempt to create a game that is open, equitable, and unique.
Nerd Kingdom includes a variety of the founders of game studies including Dmitri Williams, Ted Castronova, and James Paul Gee.
