Determine your destiny in 2015.
With so many things going on at E3, it's not surprising that some things manage to slip under the radar. One of those games was Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, a new MMO from Behaviour Interactive and Games Workshop that was announced at the show.
"I am thrilled to announce what will finally be the first MMORPG based on the Warhammer 40,000 license," said Miguel Caron, Head of Studio, Online at Behaviour Interactive. "Eternal Crusade's team are all MMO development veterans and with the support of Behaviour's 20+ years of experience this is going to be the online Warhammer 40,000 universe game that fans have been dreaming of for years!"
Eternal Crusade is set in the 41st Millenium and will allow players to choose a race and fight as one of their warriors in a persistent online conflict over territory. The game will be divided in to four factions, Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Orks and Eldar, and each faction will be vying for control over an entire planet.
"The depth, breadth and sheer level of detail that the Warhammer 40,000 universe has after 26 years of continuous development makes it one of the great fantasy settings of our times." said Jon Gillard, Head of Licensing at Games Workshop. "Experiencing the thrill of first hand combat in this world of eternal conflict, with thousands of other players beside you, will be fantastic."
Details about Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade are still a bit slim, but we do know a few things. The game will be a third-person MMO with behind-the-shoulder action featuring precision gunplay and melee combat complete with brutal finishers. Additionally, there will be iconic vehicles in the game from the series like Space Marine Rhinos, Predators, and Ork Battlewagons.
Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2015. As more details about the new MMO are unveiled, we'll be sure to keep you updated. For now, you can check out the brand new official website for more information.
