Avast, matey. There's a criminal on the loose!
The next Guild Wars 2 living world update content pack has been announced. Guild Wars 2: Sky Pirates of Tyria will be released on June 25 and will offer a slew of new content. Players can look forward to a new dungeon, new events, rewards, and features, as well as the official release of Custom Arenas and Spectator Mode for PvP.
Sky Pirates of Tyria will follow the events of Dragon Bash, where a murder took place amidst all the festivities. Inspector Ellen Kiel is heading up the investigation, and players will have to team up with her to capture the criminal.
The content will offer a new pirate-themed dungeon, Aetherblade Retreat, where players will have to battle against enemies like the Aetherblade Captain and First Mate. There will also be a new permanent scavenger hunt event. In the Sea of Sorrows Scavenger Hunt, players can search for clues to find 12 plaques that have been put up honoring the history of Lion's Arch and its founder.
For playing through the Sky Pirates of Tyria content, players will be rewarded with Aetherblade caches, a First Mate Horrik miniature companion, and a monocle.
The world of Guild Wars 2 is filled with thousands of dynamic events that constantly change based on the actions of players like you. Fast-paced, action-oriented combat lets you attack on the move, dodge and roll away from enemy blows, team up with other players, and take advantage of environmental weapons to dominate the battlefield! Competitive play in Guild Wars 2 is easy to learn, but offers challenges for new players and hardcore PvPers alike. The update will also bring a lot of balance changes to Guild Wars 2. Traits and skills will be overhauled to introduce more build diversity, and every profession trait line is being changed as well. The team at ArenaNet have also made changes to less popular skills to improve their efficiency.
Additionally, the Sky Pirates update will allow competitive minded folks to host private customizable PvP arena matches. Spectator Mode will also be available with this update, and when combined with custom arenas, folks will have a much easier time practicing for events.
Finally, Sky Pirates will introduce Mortar Mastery training for World vs. World. By improving your Mortar skill, you'll be able to increase your mortar's blast radius, damage, reduce its skill recharge, and even learn a new skill, Mortar Barrage.
