WildStar is ready to rumble.
WildStar is rolling right along with its various Closed Beta stages. In Closed Beta 3, which starts today, June 26, the level cap will be raised to 36, both the Exile and Dominion factions will be available to play, a new zone called Farside will be introduced, a new battleground, Halls of the Bloodsworn will be added, and rated Battlegrounds and Arenas will be open for testing.
In previous WildStar Closed Beta tests, players could only level up on either the Exile or Dominion side. In this phase, testers will be able to play on whichever side they like, and open world PvP will be available. Carbine is also introducing a unique Rivals List feature. Similar to your friends list, with the Rivals List, you'll be able to add members from either faction and they'll be marked in the world with a unique visual effect. You'll then be able to see them, track them down, and fight and/or kill them.
This phase of Beta will also introduce neighbors to WildStar's intricate housing feature. By adding players as neighbors, they'll be able to visit your house whenever they'd like. If you upgrade a neighbor to a roommate, they'll even be able to decorate your house's interior. There will also be new options to make your housing plot public, so that random players can visit your house. Or, if you're more of a hermit, you can mark your plot as Private to stop any visits from random players.
As for competitive players, a lot of PvP implementations have been added to WildStar in Closed Beta 3. Prestige, the MMO's PvP currency, is now in the game. There aren't any rewards to purchase with Prestige yet, but at least it's there. Players can earn up to 5000 Prestige by killing other players and completing Battleground matches.
In WildStar, the legendary planet Nexus has been found. As the opposed forces of the Exiles and Dominion rush to capture it and its secrets you must pick your side and join in the fight to unlock the planet's secrets.
The new Battleground, Halls of the Bloodsworn, has also been added in this Closed Beta phase. Halls unlocks at level 15 and is a "Hold the Line" attack/defend type of Battleground, with two teams taking turns capturing or defending points on the map. The map consists of three rooms, each with a primary control point and two secondary control points. When the battle begins, the attacking team has 20 minutes to capture all three primary control points, but controlling the secondary points provides a capture bonus. The team who captures the most points in the allotted time is the winner, and teams switch roles once all three primary capture points have been taken.
Rated Battlegrounds and 2v2 and 3v3 Arenas have also been added to WildStar. Now you'll be able to test your skills against opponents on the same level as you.
In addition to these features, Closed Beta 3 comes with an exhaustive list of bug fixes, minor and major changes to some class abilities, and other general updates and upgrades to the game. For more information, and to sign up for the test, head over to the official WildStar site.
