The Dragon Lord has come to play.
The most long-awaited content update in the history of Aion has officially launched. Aion 4.0, Dark Betrayal, is a new free expansion update to the free-to-play fantasy MMO from NCSoft. The expansion brings an increased level cap of 65, two new classes, the Songweaver and Gunslinger, two massive new high-level zones, and 11 new instances.
"We've had players asking about the launch of Aion 4.0: Dark Betrayal since last year," said Richard Zinser, Chief Operating Officer of NCSOFT West. "The number of people coming to our website searching for Aion 4.0 is similar to the traffic we had at Aion's launch. We're keeping the fans happy, and Aion 4.0 was at the forefront of their asks."
In addition to all the other content, the Dragon Lord Beritra will be introduced as the new eternal foe for this expansion. As players reach max level and make use of the game's new skills, they'll eventually be able to face the Dragon Lord in battle.
While all of this may sound very exciting, NCSoft does have a favor to ask in return. They really want players to make Asmodian characters. They want players to make Asmodians so much that they've introduced the Asmodian Initiative.
Those who roll Asmodian characters on the Tiamat, Siel, and Israphel realms will get a few rewards like new weapons, armor, and supplies as you level up. Folks on these realms will also get special discounts on certain store items.
So now that it's here, what are you waiting for? Aion: Dark Betrayal is out, go play!
