Gamon is the first NPC to truly level up in WoW.
Gamon has been something of a joke NPC in World of Warcraft for as long as most players can remember. While he existed as a character to pickpocket for a rogue quest in the Horde capital of Orgrimmar, most people know him as the neutral NPC that sits in the bar. Because he's a neutral NPC, he can be attacked, and many players have used him as a punching bag for almost ten years. But in the 5.4 patch for WoW's Mists of Pandaria expansion, this is all going to change, as Gamon is set to become a hero!
Data Miners have uncovered a series of audio clips from this strange NPC in addition to an achievement. In the patch, players will now fight with Gamon against the generals of Garrosh Hellscream.
The narrative that began at the end of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion replaced the head of the Horde (non-human creatures like Orcs, Undead, and Goblins) with a character named Garrosh Hellscream. This character personified aggression and the desire for constant war as WoW headed into the "Shattering of the World" content that was Cataclysm. Now, with the old head of the Horde, Thrall, properly enmeshed as a character of peace between the Alliance and Horde factions in World of Warcraft, the Mists of Pandaria expansion seeks to displace Garrosh Hellscream as Blizzard prepares for what will probably end up being a new expansion pack.
Below is Gamon's audio from the new quest chain. This obviously contains a few spoilers if you worry about such things.
