Robots in disguise are coming later this year.
Transformers Universe is the upcoming browser-based MMO that will let you unleash your inner autobot. Despite recent layoffs at Jagex, the studio behind Transformers Universe, it has been revealed that the game is surprisingly scheduled for a release this fall.
"We have always been committed to developing the highest quality games and services and are confident that this reduction will not adversely impact the game," said Jagex in an interview with Eurogamer. "The vast majority of the Transformers studio will be unaffected by this move."
The release window was revealed at a panel during Botcon 2013, the official Hasbro Transformers Collector's Convention held once a year in San Diego. According to Jagex, in order to speed up development on the game, they've decided to use established technology rather than developing their own. In turn, this resulted in fewer staff being needed at the studio.
Since Transformers Universe was initially announced in October 2012, there haven't been many updates about what it will contain. However, those that are interested in what's to come can sign up for the closed beta at the Transformers Universe official website.
