World of Warplanes has entered open beta and rewards closed beta participants.
The highly anticipated open beta for Wargaming's latest title, World of Warplanes is live as of July 2 in North America and July 4 in Europe. Warplanes, a flight combat MMO, is Wargaming's second title following the unbridled success of World of Tanks. The game pits players against one another in 15 vs. 15 PvP matches featuring planes from the 1930s to early 1950s.
The planes featured in Warplanes come from the U.S., Japan, U.S.S.R., and Germany. Just like WoT, Warplanes is designed with total realism in mind, down to the number of rivets on the side of each plane. However, this doesn't mean that it isn't designed as a game first - it's definitely not a flight simulator.
At the end of the open beta, Wargaming has promised a unified premium account system, which will allow players with a World of Tanks premium account to use it for both games at no additional charge. Also, anyone who participated in the closed beta for Warplanes can expect to receive a sweet prize when they log on today.
