A strong narrative needs interesting characters.

Square Enix has updated the Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn website to include background information on NPC characters that will have an impact on your game. These NPCs sit at the head of each city's narrative that players will work through as they gain levels and head into the world.

From the site, it remains to be seen how the Garlean Empire, Cid, or the Scions of the 7th Dawn will work against (or even with) each other. The most mysterious character that has been mentioned in each city's story is that of Louisoix. The last moment players saw him is in the video at the end of this article - the moment FF14 became Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.

In ARR, new adventurers come to the central cities looking for wealth, power, and glory. It has been five years since the destruction of Eozera was averted by Louisoix. No one seems to be able to remember the faces of the heroes who were fighting against the Garlean Empire on the day Bahamut awoke. Nor has anyone been able to discover where Louisoix has ended up.

As players go through the content in the game with new players just beginning their adventures and "legacy" players suddenly appearing five years into the future, Final Fantasy 14's NPCs are hard at work trying to unravel the mysteries of the masked figure as well as the impact the "primals" are having on the world.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is a game remade after an abysmal failed launch. If this game ends up successful, it may be possible for other companies to take chances on older games that just didn't work out, like Arcane Saga.
