Marvel Heroes reaches the 1.5 million user mark and announces the game's first major update.
Gazillion Entertainment just announced that its Diablo-esque MMO, Marvel Heroes now has over 1.5 million registered users. In conjunction with this announcement comes news of the game's first major update. Patch 1.11 brings a number of new features to Marvel Heroes, including changes to end-game, Asgardian story content, and the addition of the Human Torch.
Marvel Heroes is a FREE-TO-PLAY action-packed massively multiplayer online game created by David Brevik, the visionary behind Diablo and Diablo 2. Set in the iconic Marvel Universe, Marvel Heroes combines the core game-play style of Action RPGs and MMOs with the expansive library of heroes from the Marvel Universe. In the game, players can collect and play as their favorite Marvel Superheroes (including Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, Hulk, Spider Man, Captain America and many others). Team up with friends and try to stop Doctor Doom from devastating the world with the power of the Cosmic Cube in a story written by Marvel comic super-scribe Brian Michael Bendis.
Slated for Fall of 2013, the new patch will also bring with it a powerful new tier of items to enhance heroes' Ultimate Powers. Gazillion has also improved how players can obtain new heroes, which was announced last week.
One of the biggest changes is a new storyline set in Asgard, the home of Loki and Thor. This won't be the only new area, however, as Patch 1.11 will also add new PvE areas. More details on the new storyline will be revealed later.
This update will likely be the first of many, as CEO David Brevik said, "we're working hard to make the game play experience even better and add new content to the game."
