Cryptic just sent out the latest patch notes to their test shard, including a new zone - Sharandar.
Neverwinter's players have been eagerly anticipating new content updates from Cryptic. With Gauntlgrym now out of recent memory, and with the first expansion, Fury of the Feywild scheduled to release next month, July looked like a stagnant period for the fresh-faced MMO. However, the developers of Neverwinter at Cryptic recently released the latest patch notes for Neverwinter's test shard, including some brand new level 60 content.
The patch notes indicate a new zone called Sharandar, which is an ancient elven keep that was lost within Neverwinter Wood. Level 60 players can speak to Sergeant Knox to begin the quest chain. Once they have completed the opening quest line, adventurers will have permanent access to the zone, and can complete regular quests as well as daily quests for access to new gear, enchantments, and permanent passive buffs, which is a very potent reward.
It's been over century since the Spellplague forever changed The Forgotten Realms. Now, explore the city that's been at the center of a thousand adventures: Neverwinter. Adapted from the real Dungeons and Dragon's ruleset, Neverwinter will feature action-oriented combat and storytelling unlike any other MMO. Take the world in your hands with the Foundry toolset and make your own tales. Make your mark in this legendary world.
The patch also includes a feature to allow companions to rank up at the cost of Astral Diamonds. Though no exact price has been indicated, this will make a significant gameplay change for many players at max level, as the standard companions are typically too weak to be useful in combat.
Aside from the new content and companions update, the patch includes changes to each class, as well as extensive bug fixes and minor tweaks to the game. Further, they are not the final version of the notes that will go live, and there will likely be further changes to the list before it is shipped to the live servers. Expect to see this patch live sometime around the beginning of August, just in time to welcome in Fury of the Feywild.
