Vendetta Online becomes the first MMO to support the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.
Developer Guild Software just announced that its browser-based space shooter Vendetta Online now supports the Oculus Rift headset. Oculus Rift, which initially gained popularity with a successful $2.4 million Kickstarter campaign last August is currently still in development.
This development cycle has been peppered with various games - including Team Fortress 2 and Skyrim - adding support for the device. Vendetta Online has become the first MMO to get in on the Oculus craze, hopefully signaling other MMOs to follow suit. Developer kits have been sent to many major studios, which means Vendetta may be the first of many games to support the device.
When playing Vendetta, the Oculus Rift will automatically be detected upon startup. "We're thrilled to help our players experience the next level of immersion in a virtual world," said Guild Software founder John Bergman in a press release today. Alongside the addition of Oculus Rift support, Vendetta will also be receiving a major graphical overhaul.
