Aeria Games has announced F.E.A.R. Online, a new multiplayer focused entry in the popular horror franchise.
Aeria Games has announced that it will be backing the next iteration of the horror shooter franchise F.E.A.R. with F.E.A.R. Online, a multiplayer-centric shooter that aims to transplant the terror of its single player predecessors into a new and modern first person shooter experience. Developed Korean game maker Inplay Interactive, the new game will continue the horrific tale of Alma Wade while also offering multiplayer fans a new venue to exercise their skills.
The fourth game in the F.E.A.R. franchise, F.E.A.R. Online takes the series into the realm of free-to-play multiplayer with cooperative and competitive modes.
"We are thrilled to present the next entry in one of the most popular horror franchises of the last decade," said Tom Nichols, Vice President of PC Games for Aeria Games. "F.E.A.R. Online will bring back the tense, heart-pounding action that the series is known for and make it accessible to a huge online community of competitive players." Those players will be given a variety of team focused combat modes as well as ten darkly drawn maps teaming with blood, gore and the general splatters of horror.
The game's story will play out through cooperative scenarios that will run parallel to the events of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. Players will be able to form teams of four to fight through these levels and the monsters and enemies that populate them. The game will require a download to play but will also be free-to-play, giving F.E.A.R. fans old and new a convenient chance to partake in the series' latest offering. Players interested in getting in on the game early can sign up for a chance to participate in a closed beta that will be beginning shortly.
