Dragon's Prophet Gets North American/European Launch Date

Dragon's Prophet will officially launch in North America and Europe on September 18th.

Dragon's Prophet, the free-to-play fantasy MMORPG that drops players into a world where humans and dragons fight as allies in battle, will be leaving its beta phase for an official launch in North America and Europe. The launch, which will take place in both regions on September 18th, was announced at Sony Online Entertainment's annual SOE Live fan event. The launch, which will bring to an end the game's ongoing open beta phase, will bring with it a bevy of new features including large scale cross-server player-versus-player battles which will incorporate siege weapons to make things even more bombastic.

Dragon's Prophet

This action fantasy title has you, as a human hero, fighting alongside dragons. The most recent battle against evil ended in victory, but evil's a sneaky so-and-so, and the world's in peril again. Have you got what it takes to become the next Dragon Prophet?

This is a free-to-play, with microtransactions. Though there isn't a subscription system per se, during closed beta the developer is selling what's called a Dragon Pack. There are three different kinds of Packs, each with its own dragon, title and gear; it's basically a VIP system in all but name. Cost of these packs ranges from $19,99 to $89.99, depending on how fancy you care to get. Purchase of a Pack gets you into the beta.

Andreas Widenhaupt, the CEO of Infernum Productions offered some comments on the launch, thanking participants from the open beta for their help testing the game while also commenting on steps the company intends to make to keep Dragon's Prophet fresh and running smoothly. "Almost three months after the open beta started, we have already made huge progress," said Weidenhaupt. "After we revisited the existing gameplay systems on a huge scale and delivered new content to Dragon's Prophet, we will now continuously improve the performance, address balancing issues and rework all zones as well as the 30 dungeons we already released. When the game launches, we will deliver an additional zone as well as the long-awaited frontier system with its epic cross-server PvP battles."

While fantasy MMORPGs are a dime a dozen, Dragon's Prophet has arguably set itself apart with its heavy integration of dragons into its lore and gameplay. It's a focus that managed to capture the attention of thousands of players during its open beta and now, with its official launch on the horizon, interested players can register at its North American and European websites in advance.
