Yoshi-p wants you to test player housing and PVP in phase 4 of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn.
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn producer, Naoki Yoshida, better known as YoshiP, held his latest letter from the producer LIVE this morning from his office in Japan. Phase 4 of the FF14ARR beta test will begin on August 16th for phase 3 testers and on August 17th for new beta testers. The test will run until August 19th. Players who purchased the special edition will be able to start playing on August 24th and the game will release to everyone on August 27th. With that out of the way, what sort of news did YoshiP give ARR fans? The most important news is that fishing, Arcanists (who are DPS, not healers!), PVP, and Player Housing will be available at the start of Phase 4. Finally, any progress you make during this phase will carry over to the release of the game. However, that isn't all!
For phase 4, the level cap will be set again to level 20. Here, players will be testing everything they can about PVP, player housing, fishing, and the Arcanist. The ability to take screenshots will be available for PS3 players for the first time. Also, PVP will be instituted and can be engaged in "Coliseum" area. However, this area has been renamed the "Wolves Den." Unfortunately, PVP is restricted to players at or above level 30 so testing of PVP will be done by legacy players as they struggle to rediscover their new characters. YoshiP adds that many aspects of the Coliseum will not be available (things like pvp gear or items) and that they will be testing range and stress on the servers.
The producers added that the iOS application named "Libra Eorzea" will be released shortly after August 27th. It will allow players to view their character information and specific data about the game through their iOS devices. It is currently intended to be just an encyclopedia. However, this application will also link to the Lodestone or the web portal that is intended to be a bridge between servers and help foster community within the game itself.
