Chill out and get explorative in WoW's newest zone.

World of Warcraft is getting a few tweaks, as its recently unveiled class changes and in-game store show. And while the major focus of patch 5.4 sees the Alliance and Horde pit in a fight against Garrosh, players will also be able to escape the conflict in a paradisical new zone - The Timeless Isle.

Enter the world of Azeroth and battle against the Alliance of humans, dwarves and night elves or the brutish orcs, trolls and undead of the Horde. World of Warcraft has a very large community of players with hundreds of servers and a myriad of endgame pursuits from raiding dungeons, questing, achievement hunting, PVP arenas, and now pet battles.

The Timeless Isle is so named for being in a perpetual state of sunset (which I'm pretty sure is a valid time of day, but anyway). The WoW blog promises that the isle will offer open-world adventuring "at your own pace." There are quests, but they don't sound like your typical WoW errands; instead of telling you what to do, they'll only gently encourage exploration of caverns, underwater grottos, and peaceful forests. The isle's inhabitants also drop unique items, such as BoA tokens tradeable for item-level 496 loot, or consumables that can grant you Timeless Coins - which can be used to purchase anything from BoA gear to pets and mounts and other just-for-fun social items.

And, of course, there are new raid bosses for you and your friends to bond over the corpses of. The Four August Celestials - Chi-Ji, Niuzao, Xuen, and Yu'lon - can be found at the ancient proving grounds in the center of the island, ready for any group to stroll in and test their mettle. There's also a new world boss, Ordos.

Being an open-world experience, everything but the raid bosses is designed to be taken on solo. Yes, that means even your freshly-turned-90 druid alt can take on a level 93 elite. And when there aren't any endangered species to kill, a new Event System will mark nearby chests and events on your minimap.

With the Mists of Pandaria expansion nearing its apex, this seems like a really fun way for WoW players to unwind and relax after all the heady conflict of the past few months. Tiny secrets buried in lushly detailed zones is one of the things that WoW does best, so you can count on finding me in the Timeless Isle's forests from day one.
