Riot revealed that ticket sales for League of Legends' League Championship Series have been delayed and will open soon.
League of Legends files the sharp corners off of the notorious MOBA genre into something that's both approachable, yet challenging. Persistant character development lets you develop your strategies over time and build up your summoner profile, while runes can grant you the edge. The community is both highly competitive, yet well-policed. Think you have what it takes to compete in the League of Legends?
Regretfully, there's been an unexpected delay in issuing tickets for the World Championship and sales will not begin at 12PM PDT today as previously announced. We're working diligently to resolve the problem and will provide an update when we've confirmed a new sale date and time.
The LCS team here at Riot wants to maintain the highest possible standards for all our awesome esports fans and we always want to avoid uncertainties like these. Rest assured, when we have a new date and time fully secured, we'll announce it with at least 48 hours lead time to give all players enough warning and an equal opportunity at purchasing available tickets.
This delay was likely due to the doubtless stress on ticket sellers' servers. Tickets were originally slated to be sold through ticketmaster.com, however, it remains to be seen if they will still be the only seller after this hiccup. Either way, we will be sure to keep you posted when ticket sales go live.
