If you can't stand the action, then get out of the cockpit ... and view your mech from the outside.

MechWarrior Online developer Piranha Games has released a new update for the robot vs. robot action title, with the big feature being the promised third-person view. In keeping with the weekly updates, this follows the recent move to 12 vs. 12 action.

In addition, the Kintaro medium battlemech is the Mech of the Month and is available for C-Bills, along with some new skins for it. The Catapult Champion mech, complete with 10 percent XP boost, is available now for MC purchase. The team has the complete list of features and bug fixes in an update post on the official site, including some tuning of medium mechs.

Also, the Project Phoenix loyalty program for people who pre-order has been fairly successful, so early supporters have been given a bonus: All Phoenix paint colors have been unlocked for all mechs. The program will continue until the game launches on September 17.

And just a reminder, if you will be in the San Francisco area on September 26, sign up for an invite-only ticket to the MechWarrior Online launch party.

If you haven't played yet, check on the Kintaro in action below.

Gone are the days of MechWarrior sims, PGI's rendition screams console port just before release by adding prerequisite 3rd person view for all the kiddies. Founders pay the nonrefundable price. Many of the core gamers are walking away just as the game is to be released. TS3(coms) has few players and if 12 man squad on squadaction is your thing good luck, about 50 ppl on public coms play 12vs12 so getting a match is rare except during peak times. If those 12 are not on, competitive play is reduced to joining random kids.
