FFXIV Now Available in North American, Server Problems Be Damned.
Amid early access issues, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is open now to North American consumers on both the PS3 and PC. FFXIV has proven extremely popular (which is surprising, considering the last time the game launched), and this popularity has caused massive strain on servers and the team at Square Enix, who has been fixing bugs seemingly nonstop for the last few days.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that invites you to explore the realm of Eorzea with friends from around the world.
FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn lets you party up and adventure with a multitude of players from across the globe. Forge friendships, mount chocobos, and board airships as you and your companions create your own unique stories in Eorzea. All the classic elements from the series that you have come to know and love are waiting!
Set out alone or enlist the aid of friends as you undertake epic quests, battle familiar FINAL FANTASY monsters, and acquire unique abilities and equipment. Embark on the adventure of a lifetime to help reforge the fate of Eorzea!
Players remained undeterred, however, and with the game open to the public, problems will likely only increase. Game Director Naoki Yoshida issued an apology yesterday assuring players that the issues are being fixed as quickly as possible. Server issues and bugs aside, FFXIV is taking off with players. Indeed, an overloaded server from too many players is a pretty good problem to have.
A Realm Reborn is available for purchase here. The game requires a subscription that varies from $12.99-$14.99, depending on how you pay, however the first 30 days are free. Other than the obvious draw of a Final Fantasy game, FFXIV brings to the table a system that allows players to seamlessly change character roles, skills, and abilities. On top of that is the stunning visuals and deep storyline FF fans have come to expect.
Oh and you can have a freaking pet Chocobo.
