Funcom rolls out Lego Minifigures Online - a kid-friendly MMO I'm already in love with.
Funcom, the Norwegian studio behind Age of Conan and The Secret World, just unveiled its newest MMO, Lego Minifigures Online. Designed with kids in mind, Funcom promises "crazy fun" for all ages - especially if you like Legos. Gameplay looks similar to the that of developer Traveller's Tales' Lego games (Lego Star Wars, Lego Lord of the Rings, etc), with Lego characters moving and building objects in a familiar manner. A debut trailer hinted at features similar to those in other MMOs, such as instances, mobs, and large, heavily populated areas.
LMO's executive producer Lawrence Poe commented in a press release that, "we could not be more excited to be working with LEGO on such a great franchise. I think you could even say the team has been training to make this game since we were little kids."
The game will be available on Android and iOS, along with a PC client and in-browser functionality using Funcom's own DreamWorld platform. Not much more is available, but don't worry, I have my eyes glued to the screen waiting for updates. Lego Minifigures Online is slated to come out in the second half of 2014, so there is plenty of time to calm down (for you at least). Oh, and make sure to check out the debut trailer below:
