Warning: This post is going to be spoiler-ific.
So with World of Warcraft's Patch 5.4 now live for a couple of days, you've played through the Wandering Isle, you've wiped in the new raid, and you've most certainly checked out the armor. What's left? What's next? What will happen to the Horde? When will the next expansion be? Well, I can't answer that last one, but stay tuned! In the meantime, let's take a look at the previous question: Who will lead the Horde? The World of Warcraft lore has been building up to this moment with Garrosh Hellscream since The Burning Crusade back in 2008, so his loss is a pretty big deal for the Horde.
Let's take a quick look at the options: Right off the bat, many of the leaders of the Horde are simply unviable candidates. Nobody is going to elect Trade Prince Gallywix, Sylvanas is too dangerous even if she wanted the position, and I don't even know the name of the Blood Elf Reagent, so he's clearly out of the running. That leaves us with three viable contenders for the position of Warchief: Vol'jin, Baine Bloodhoof, and Thrall. To find out what the Horde leaders choose, check out the two videos below. The first is from the Alliance perspective, and the latter is from the Horde perspective, where you can see the deliberations among the Horde leaders. *WARNING: THESE VIDEOS AND THE REMAINDER OF THIS ARTICLE CONTAIN SPOILERS TO THE END OF THE MISTS OF PANDARIA EXPANSION*
For those of you who cannot watch the video, the new Warchief of the Horde is Vol'jin. Though he is initially hesitant to accept the position, Thrall bows to Vol'jin, followed by the rest of the Horde leadership, after which he appears to accept his new role. Vol'jin is definitely a strong choice for the role of Warchief, having served the Horde longer than nearly any other member (aside from Thrall, who is off being a super hero, I guess). Whether this is a good or bad move for the Horde's well-being remains to be seen, but for now we can definitely look forward to seeing an interesting new perspective on how the Horde should be run.
