The Dragon was Rising on Tuesday, and by Wednesday, it was dead.
The big part of the recent update for Guild Wars 2 that launched on Tuesday was the return of the nasty dragon Tequatl to Tyria. Much ado was made over the wyrm's new abilities and just how difficult a challenge it would provide to players.
Well, guess what? Ding-dong, the wicked wyrm is dead.
A group of players on the Blackgate server gathered together to banish the frightful beast back to the pit from which it came. Other servers had gotten close, but a bit of organization helped the players on Blackgate pull out the kill.
Not soon after, players on the Desolation server followed suit. On it's official Facebook page, developer ArenaNet was quick to offer congratulations to players for "pulling together and pooling their strength and strategy." It also prodded players on other worlds to get going: "Do you want to rally the players on your world to claim this victory too? Head to our In-Game Events forum to get the ball rolling by organizing a Tequatl attack for your world."
To commemorate the event, the dev team released a PAX video of the Tequatl encounter, and how attendees attacked the beast (with a bit of help from developers).
