The Lord of the Rings Online's Hunter is receiving modifications to help make its various class lines more useful.
With The Lord of the Rings Online gearing up for the Helm's Deep DLC pack's November launch, the game's developers at Turbine have put out new information to inform players of some of the changes the expansion is making, namely to the Hunter class.
Begin your own epic adventure as the Race of Man, Elf, Dwarf, or Hobbit. Based on the books written by J. R. R. Tolkien and not the movies, LOTRO is a closest thing you can get to strolling through Middle-Earth with a solid walking stick in your hand as the road goes ever on and on.
According to a recent developer diary, characters based in the Hunter class will find its various class lines endowed with more usefulness. "The hunter overall felt like the Bowmaster was the core of the class and venturing into the other lines was being used to supplement it," said Turbine. "With the changes, we focused in on what made each line unique and really expanded upon it."
These changes will include modifications that cement the Bowmaster class line as a stationary high-damage unit, the Huntsman as a mobile mid-ranged fighter and the Trapper of Foes as a "utility hunter" whose battle strategy centers on crowd control.
The diary paid special attention to the Trapper of Foes class line, explaining how the new updates would revamp the traps to make them feel like a better fit for the game. "When it came time to revamp the trapper line, we wanted to incorporate traps into their rotations and play." The nature of the class's traps specifically are being adjusted to make them better suited to combat. They've done this by "reducing the induction or removing it in some cases, being able to place them via ground targeted, etc. all seemed to really make traps a lot more fun and engaging to use."
