Players who act fast can land themselves early access to Bungie's Destiny beta by pre-ordering the game from select retailers.
Destiny, Bungie's massively multiplayer departure from the Halo series, is available for pre-order. More importantly, however, it's been revealed that gamers who reserve their copy with select retailers will be rewarded with a considerable perk: early access to the game's beta.
On the pre-order page of the game's official website, besides spots to select a particular console and region, there is a "select a retailer" option that players can click on to choose from a list of stores that will be selling Destiny pre-orders. Next to several of the listed stores is a logo that indicates the seller to be a "a participating Beta retailer." The current list includes: Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop and Wal-Mart.
Players hoping to use this as an avenue to get in on the Destiny beta will want to move fast. The pre-order page itself confirms that this deal is "limited time only" and will end when the pool of beta codes runs dry. There is currently no indication as to when that might be or how many codes the participating retailers have access to. Destiny is due for release in 2014.
