  • Plot Clarification
It's not one structure, it's one plot. A plot can have many structures on it. [p]Your dragon would be able to set permissions on who can use the plot, structures, items, etc, so would be able to let the elf do anything it wanted on the plot.[p]
  • Weapon Skills
First, some of the prestige schools do have a weapon focus to them. For example, Berserkers only use two hand slash weapons. Other schools are more general, such as Warriors, and can use a variety of different weapons and gain ability in all of those weapon skills. [p]Secondly, there is a system in place to allow a character to customize themselves a lot. You can go and get training in specific weapon skills to "specialize" your character's abilities. [p]
  • Switching Schools
If you are a cleric and you switch to another school several things will happen: [p]1) You will lose access to some of your special abilities. You will, in general, keep any abilities, though, up to half the level of the school you left. So if you were a level 10 cleric, you will still have access to abilities you gained up through level 5.
    2) You may not be able to cast some of your spells. There are schools specific spells, which you can only cast if you are a member of specific schools. There are also catagories of spells that only certain groups of schools can cast. However, there are also unrestricted spells that anyone can cast if they meet the skill requirements for the spell. So if you switch from cleric to druid, you will most likely only lose access to cleric specific spells. If you switch from cleric to warrior, you will lose access to any spells that are not unrestricted. [p]
  • Battlemage
A battlemage is a prestige school that combines elements of Warrior and Mage. They have spells from a mage, but can wear armor like a Warrior, although they advance slower in both than either other school. [p]
  • Dragon Advancement
Dragons advance by gaining experience, just like other races. The main difference is that they customize their characters through performing quest that give them abilities, instead of switching schools. [p]In general, they harvest and create items like other races as well, but they don't use tools. They have abilities that mimic the functionality of tools. [p]
  • Scouting out Scouts
Scouts will be getting more "scouting" abilities as well, as we go forward.[p]
  • Removing Items
Items can also leave the environment by selling them to a Pawnbroker (which clean up their inventory occassionally) and by dragons stuffing them in their hoards. [p]
  • Interaction with NPCs
    1) You can't attack NPCs, and you can't interact with hostile targets. [p]2) You can have as many quests up as you can find, but there are some limits. Mostly, you wont be able to have more than one quest from the same npc at the same time. So you can have one from your school, and one from the Task Officer, and one from Lady Kendra, etc, etc. [p]
  • Buffs
One clarification, not all buffs disappear when you log out. Most Gifts, for example, are saved when you log out, and should be there when you log back in. Short term buffs, though, usually disappear on logout, and you lose all buffs when you die. [p]
  • Dragon & Rogue Schools
Let's see... from that list, Dragon Scholar and Dragon Spellcrafter have been rolled into Dragon Crafter. All dragon adventure schools have been replaced with the single school: Dragon Adventurer. [p]Horizons does not officially have a rogue school, so I can neither confirm nor deny the existance of such a school at this time. [p]
  • Artificial Intelligence
All those NPCs are still around, as far as I know. And more, actually. [p]The WA will be on the move, and will invade player towns. [p]The WA are not dumb, and I'd be careful if they heard you say that.[p]
  • Character Names
All characters can have a first and last name at creation. I don't think you can have a space in your first name, but you can in your last name.[p]
  • Paul's Favorite Race
Oh, I don't know about answering that. It might encourage people in a specific direction. [p]Honestly, all the races have things to pull me toward them. I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to play on the test server at release. Over the course of beta I've played several dragons, a dwarf warrior, a human cleric, a sslik spiritist, a saris monk, and an elf scout. They were all fun in different ways, and I enjoyed playing them all. [p]
  • Feign Death & Servers
No feign death at the moment. [p]All the servers are located in the same area, so there wont be a ping advantage to choosing one over another that I'm aware of. [p]
  • Adventuring & Reaver
Adventurers make money from killing things, and also from selling rare resources to crafters. It's a nice living. [p]I didn't play much of a reaver, other than testing specific abilities. I'd prefer that someone who spent a lot of time at it answered you, just to make sure you get the unvarnished opinion. [p]
  • Dungeons & Formulas
There are lots of areas in the world that give players the kind of "dungeon" experience you are talking about. In general, we don't have a lot of places where you enter a forgotten tomb and walk through hallways, though. It's much more likely that you'll go to some canyons or a blighted area that give you the same kind of experience. [p]Crafters can get formulae and techniques through quests, and occassionally from vendors. They also come from adventurers, though, and in fact, some *only* come from adventurers. In addition, though, all of the resources that crafters need to actually use techniques come from monsters, so they are heavily dependent on adventurers if they want to make anything other than a base item. [p]
  • [A href="http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/hz/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=istariahall&Number=24930" target="_blank"]Characters Per CD-Key[/a]
I just had it confirmed to me that you will get 5 character slots per account key. You can divide those among the servers however you wish. [p]
  • Buckets, and Chickens?
You use a bucket to gather from live chickens. Gotta put those eggs somewhere. [p]
  • Casual Gamer
We've designed Horizons to be very friendly to someone who has limited playtime. You should be just fine logging in for an hour a day, and you should be able to get something done in that time. Now, you're not going to catch up with someone who plays 24/7, but you shouldn't feel like you're wasting your time. [p]
  • Paladin
You need to have 200 skill in two hand slash and 150 in life to join. This is easy if you go 20 warrior and 15 cleric. [p]
  • Items Do What?
Read the description for the item. That should give you some idea of what it's for. I'll take a look at them to see if they can be more complete. [p]The salvage awl increases your ability to deconstruct items, but you can also deconstruct items with the tool that was used to originally make the item. [p]
  • Tools & Machines
Blacksmith and Tinker will get you the ability to make all of the tools in the game.

As for machines, you don't really make machines and carry them around with you. You can make a building on your plot that comes with a machine, though. So if you build a blacksmith building, it comes with a smelter and anvil (if I'm remembering correctly.)

  • Gnomish Glasses
Glasses are part of the gnome appearances. [p]
  • Gnomish History
For their near history, they come from the city of Rachival which was decimated when the undead swept through the lands of the east. The survivors have set up shop near Tazoon in a small community called New Rachival. [p]
  • Paul's Biast Opinion on HORIZONS: Empire of Istaria
Well personally, I think the game rocks. [p]Now, I may be a *little* biased.... [p]
  • Bloodmages
Bloodmages are characterized by the fact that they have exclusive spells which are more powerful, but also damage them. They use their own health to fuel them. They also have good drains to replenish their life. [p]
  • Knight of Creation
There's a full line of swords and shields as you increase in level. [p]
  • Mining Confirmation
Of course there's mining! [p]Certain areas have resource nodes in them, and you run around gathering ore with your mining pick. [p]
  • Tinkering Tools
There are tools that are made out of clay, so the tinkerer needs to be able to make those, as well. [p]
  • Crystals
The crystals are in the game and available. The weapon crafting system is on it's way out the door, but wont be live on launch day. And it does rule.[p]
  • Paul on Launch Servers
The number of servers at launch is to keep players from being too spread out. If they fill up quickly, we have the resources to bring up additional servers as needed. [p]
  • Bounty Markers & Formulas
You can get imperial bounty markers from monsters and from doing certain quests in the game (Primarily from Dennison Jadefellow on the Dalimond docks) [p]Formulae are available for "sale" from the lore NPCs in several towns. They do not accept money, however. You get lore tokens for doing quests from your trainer, and can either buy the formula outright for a specific number of tokens, or pay one token to get a random formula. [p]
  • Dragon Craft School
There is only one Dragon Craft school at the moment. It can make anything a dragon might need, including scales and spells. [p]
  • Dragon Adventurer School
Dragons have trainers that can teach you new abilities, and improve your skills. [p]All adventurers (including dragons) also get training points every level that they can spend at various trainers to increase stats and skills. [p]
  • Spells
Most of the spells there were from various schools, highlighting our effect system. The big green banshee is a spiritist spell, for example. [p]
  • EB Pre-order Perk
Plus if you pre-ordered from EB, you should get a code that lets you get a shoulder buddy, and some stylish pants. [p]
  • Patch Notes
As far as I'm aware we'll be posting our patch notes on the website everytime we update. [p]
  • Cookie Cutter Schools
About the "cookie cutter" question, I just wanted to chime in. Just because all races can be all schools (dragons excepted) doesn't mean that characters will be the same. One of the things the beta testers didn't get to play with was the new training point system that I implemented (and will be in at launch.) Adventurers get points every level and can use them to customize their characters, so many characters of the same race and school will be much different after a few levels. [p]
  • Weaponcrafting Update
The system of matching hilts and blades for weapons is getting pushed out ASAP. It wont be there at launch, but should be very very soon afterward. It's done, as far as I'm aware, but didn't make the gold master CD. [p]
  • Knight of Creation - Summoning
Well, their summoning abilities are just sword and shield at the moment (although more will be added). They can also use their summoning skill, though, to summon things. [p]
  • Chaos Warriors
Chaos warriors are two hand crush specialists with a variety of highly random abilities. They have strikes that can do incredible damage, or very little damage; buffs that randomly increase stats and defenses, and other random abilities. They also have some abilities related to harnessing energy, such as hastes, etc. [p]
  • Racial Abilities
Dwarves do indeed get +1000 Armor for 30 seconds. [p]Other races abilities are good too, though. Gnomes get a permanent 3% haste in melee. Saris get an extra sprint... [p]
  • Paul Compliments on a Job Well Done
Boy, you guys are good. I log on to answer people's questions and you guys have already answered them. [p]
  • Hoard Diminishing
Hoards slowly diminish over time. It's pretty slow. Like 1 point every five minutes. So that you know, money is very inefficient for hoards. It's usually better to buy items and put them in. [p]
  • Cleric Races
Race is highly subjective. [p]Sslik have good stats for a cleric.
Saris get a bonus to Life skill.
Dwarves have decent stats and a good melee ability. [p]It's all up to you. [p]
  • Spells
Well, you have to be a scholar before you can switch to spellcrafter. [p]All the spells you can use will be made by scholars. Use the player list to find one, and send em a tell. If you want to see what kinds of spells are available, check the loremaster in Dalimond. He sells formulae for spells. [p]
  • Attribute Clarification
Strength does affect your damage. [p]Dex affects your damage in a tangential way. Unarmed skill is improved by your dex, and unarmed skill also increases your damage. [p]
  • Conjurers
I had the guy who designed the school answer this: [p]Conjurers are not meant to stand-alone soloing behemoths. However they are not intended to be weak by any means they will have adequate provisions to make a fine living in the field. The most unique defining characteristic is that their abilities effects are not on timers. Everything they make will receive 100% of its use before it fades. Many useful enchantments can be conjured such as; The Ice Barrier which is a damage shield, The Dancing Rapier that allows any character with a weapon to parry with a bonus percentage, and The Phoenix Shield that will completely absorb an incoming attack. Conjurer's effects should be welcome assets in groups and can bolster the Conjurers themselves so that they can still adventure alone. [p]
