The Aster and Stratios will be new ship types associated with the Sisters of EVE faction coming in EVE Online's Rubicon update.
When your videogame is all about spaceships it kind of becomes a big deal when you add in some new ones. That in mind, CCP is likely turning some heads with the reveal of two new spacecraft for its popular MMO EVE Online.
In EVE, a universe of unbounded opportunity awaits new capsuleers, whether they lust after wealth, crave the fight or simply yearn for adventure among the stars. The venerable and ever-updated science-fiction MMO lets you create a spaceship pilot, mine the stars, engage in corporate warfare, and live in one of the deepest MMO communities available.
The new ships, the Astero and Stratios, will belong to the Sisters of EVE faction and will come as a part of the free Rubicon expansion revealed back in September. The Sisters of EVE will be a new pirate faction combining Amarr and Gallente skill sets with a "strong focus on exploration and self-reliance in hostile space." The Sisters of EVE and the new ships are being designed to be useful in solo exploration, long term deployments away from stations and combat situations while remaining just generally versatile for "a range of play-styles and tasks."
According to CCP, "Both ships have above average mid-slot allocation for ships with an armor bonus." This, in turn, will mean "that they sacrifice some raw damage and tank potential but can easily field all the modules necessary for exploration." They will also feature "lots of room to field support mods, electronic warfare or even switch to shield tanks for more damage." To gain access to the Astero and Stratios, players will first need to accumulate loyalty points with the Sisters of EVE. Players, in turn, will get that opportunity when the Rubicon update arrives on November 19th.
