CCP will host a new PLEX for GOOD charity drive from November 20th to December 7th to help raise funds to aid relief efforts in the Philippines.
About two weeks ago on November 8th, the Philippines were hit by Typhoon Haiyan. Thousands were left dead in its wake with thousands more injured and missing and millions more displaced. In the time since, international aid has begun to arrive from around the world. That being the case, private and charitable organizations have also taken to raising funds to help with efforts to assist the people affected by the disaster.
Standing among the groups trying to help is EVE Online developer CCP, which has announced that it will be launching a new PLEX for GOOD charity drive. Starting November 20th and running until December 7th, players will have the option of donating their accumulated PLEX to help raise fund to help the Icelandic Red Cross in its efforts to aid the Philippines. For every unit of PLEX given by a player, the developer will donate $15 real world dollars. Players who contribute will receive a thank you gift of two virtual in-game Sisters of EVE Food Relief t-shirts that can be used to show off that they participated.
To donate PLEX, users will need to get in touch with a CCP PLEX for GOOD character within the 14 days run of the charity. Players are being cautioned to make sure the person they're giving PLEX to is, in fact, the designated PLEX for GOOD character as, in the past, mistakes have resulted in PLEX being gifted to the wrong player. Previous PLEX for GOOD campaigns have led to donations totaling more than $100,000 that has been used to help with disaster relief in places including Haiti, Japan, Pakistan and the United States. Here's hoping the charity efforts directed toward the Philippines will be just as successful.
