After an unexpected delay, the Helm's Deep expansion for is now available for The Lord of the Rings Online.
Fans of The Lord of the Rings Online were privy to a big heaping dose of epic yesterday thanks to the much anticipated launch of Helm's Deep, the game's fifth major content expansion. The November 20th launch came, of course, two days later than originally planned, a delay necessitated by technical difficulties that occurred in the wake of unexpected power outage on the 18th. With those troubles resolved, however, the expansion is now up, running and drawing players in with new content based on the iconic Battle of Helm's Deep from The Lord of the Rings.
Outside of giving players a chance to partake in the battle itself, the Helm's Deep expansion will also introduce new landscapes based in Rohan, including the fortress of Hornburg. The expansion will also raise the game's level cap from 85 to 95 and introduce a new set of skills while also updating class specializations. Helm's Deep will, of course, also continue the epic storyline of The Lord of the Rings, allowing players the chance to encounter characters like King Theoden whom they'll help to regain his throne.
All of this adds up to a substantial chunk of content sure to keep devoted denizens of Middle-Earth happy and occupied for some time to come. Sadly, unlike The Lord of the Rings Online itself, Helm's Deep isn't free. Interested players will need to play $59.99 to gain access to the new content. That said, the if the content is as good as it sounds, it may well be worth. Gamers interested in more information on the expansion, head over its official page on the game's website.
