Japanese Tanks Update Coming Soon to World of Tanks

The next update to World of Tanks is coming soon, and it will add 14 Japanese tanks to the battlefield.

New armor is coming to the battlefield for the free-to-play MMO World of Tanks. Wargaming.net announced yesterday that the next patch, version 8.10, is coming soon. In September, Wargaming.net released a trailer teasing the next tank line for the game.

The update details released yesterday confirm the addition of the Japanese tank line. Japanese designs from World War 2 are the basis for the new tanks, including prototypes that never saw combat. The new tech tree will have two branches, adding 14 vehicles. The update adds four light tanks, nine medium tanks, and a premium medium tank. In-game images of some of the new tanks, and the complete new tech tree, are available on the official site. Japan is the seventh nation added to the game.

"Our goal with World of Tanks has always been to maintain the gameplay depth through regular updates," said Mike Zhivets, producer on World of Tanks. "8.10 will bring a massive addition of new tanks, and we can't wait for both our current and new players to get their hands on them."

The update will also include major changes to the game's lighting system. Changes to how light and shadow works are expected to improve realism. Full details for the update will be posted soon on the World of Tanks official site.
