Rift's patch 2.5 includes a complete makeover for the popular Iron Pine Peak zone.
Rift, Trion World's fantasy MMORPG, was recently the recipient of a batch of new content in the form the Song of Dreams update, also known as patch 2.5. While this latest update has brought with it some considerable changes, one of the most notable has been revealed to be a complete revamp of the game's Iron Pine Peak area.
"We completely rebuilt the zone," said Trion. "[We've recreated] it as a new mid-level experience for levels 27-35, introducing gamers to a new, snowy landscape far earlier in the game than ever before." A mere change in the area's looks however, is "just the tip of the iceberg" according to Trion. "We overhauled the storyline flow, quest continuity, and revamped the look and feel of the zone so that gamers again play an integral part in the tale of Crucia and the Storm Legion."
The decision to change the Iron Pine Peak area to a mid-level zone stemmed in large part from the developer's desire "to introduce the environment to new players sooner" and give "them more visual diversity and a more compelling gameplay experience." Trion also hopes this will give mid-level players more zone options to choose from "as they level right up to 60." Despite all the changes made to the zone, Trion took care to try and maintain quests arcs and content from the original version that were "beloved" by players.
