Dynasty Warriors Online will close its doors in North America on January 10th, 2014.
Dynasty Warriors has a fairly dedicated fanbase in the United States that enjoys the series and all the ridiculous trappings that go with it. Sadly, for Dynasty Warriors Online, that fan base apparently isn't enough to merit keeping the game open. In turn, its publishers at Aeria Games have revealed it will be shutting its doors in North American starting in January.
"We regret to inform you that unfortunately the [Dynasty Warrior Online servers will be permanently closing on January 10th, 2014," said the publisher in a statement. "This decision was not taken lightly and only decided on after thorough discussion with Aeria's internal teams and KOEI."
In turn, Aeria has affirmed its intention to "return 100 percent of the [Aeria Points] spent on DWO to players within these final days." It asks that players allow up to 45 for rebates connected to the game to appear in their accounts. "AP spent before December 10th, 2013 WILL NOT qualify." Aeria apparently also has plans for new events to help send the game off as it nears its end.
