The winner of our most recent Where in Dereth? is very excited to be attending. I thought perhaps you might enjoy this bit he sent me:
As for the ACPL, I've made my reservations at the Dedham Holiday and am planning the trip. I hope to arrive by early evening on Friday so that I might meet some AC'ers before the Luncheon, as I'm not going to know anyone there as far as I can tell. Although admittedly since the AC folk are all going to be in the same "block", I wonder if simply wondering up and down the hallways requesting buffs would be an effective icebreaker? I mean dear lord, we're all going to be able to be just as geeky as we want to be without facing blank or frightened stares, aren't we? While I might get a little scared if someone shows up with their homemade Elari Bow complete with glued on sparkles, an atmosphere that allows one to walk down a hallway and call out, "I need to go downstairs to the ice machine, can someone buff me?" is pretty priceless I think.
Hmmmm...well, I was actually going to ask you something about the event, but the mental movies of AC fans acting like goofs has destroyed any practical purpose this e-mail was going to have. Bah. Or perhaps more appropriately, "faugh".
I'm glad El Harco's generous donation went to such an exciting and fun player!
