Since combat has been a little stale, I've decided to help out new players by giving out a basic tour and ingame tutorial. Why? Well, I've been reading some posts and some people aren't liking the idea of playing with PS2 users. The best way to eliminate this problem is to educate them (the PS2 users I mean ;) ). That way everyone has fun and you learn a few things in the process.
I've already helped out a number of new players and that's been the best aspect of the game. So if you're getting the HDD and FFXI on Tuesday, just create your character and meet me in Bastok where you first appear. I'm on the Fairy server but I can send a world pass to people as money permits.
The more the merrier so if you want to come and help then meet me at the location above at around 8:00PM PDT (look for Rojimbo, the mini Taru). Feel free to do this on as many of the servers as you want. Just meet where the new users enter and cover the subjects listed below.
---------------------------------------------------
What: New Player Tour (For Both PS2 and PC users)
When: 8:00PM PDT @ March 23rd-27th 2004. Back to Back (or until we drop from exhaustion). This will run all month long if there's still people who want the tours.
Why: So the PC users and the PS2 users don't end up killing each other ;)What the Tour Covers:
- Gaming Etiquette: What you should NOT being doing that pisses off other players. Very important.
- Using the Map: A lot of your questions on where stuff is can be found on this thing. Also makes for easier directions like "It's located at Bastok Market J-8".
- The Auction House: One of the busiest places should have a lesson.
- Signet: Often overlooked, IMO & Experience.
- Missions & Quests: What they are and when you can do them.
- Money: Simple introduction to money and easy tips. Please don't ask how to make 30K Gil an hour.
- Combat: Not how to do it (that's easy) but how to stay alive.
- Grouping: Fun for the whole family.
- Using/Setting Macros (credit Arawn): According to the crowd, your gaming lives and dies by this.See you there!
- Rojimbo (Rojimbo@pol.com)
I thought I would relay this to the masses. It seems like a very nice player doing a good bit for his community.
I would like to encourage all experianced players on other servers to take a little time to help out the newcommers.
Thanks for the e-mail Rojimbo.
