Today I have several posts from ACVault and from Turbine's ACDM Site answering several questions.
Question: ACZovyn - Are there going to be any changes to certain tinkers to make them more worthwhile ? (paraphrased)
Answer: srand - We are going to be rebalancing some of the earlier effects. I think you'll be generally pleased when you see them.
Question: Dark_Umbris - I thought it was 7 days untill u could get a new item from Gaerlans quest?
Answer: Orion/srand - Forget examining the staves, just try the spell out in combat. You'll understand.
Question: Illusion24 - Evidence that critical strike on wands has absolutely no effect.
Answer: srand - the official word is that slayer properties on a wand work just fine, but that they are currently set to use .. shall we say, conservative? .. damage multipliers.
Question: The_Antimacro - If you imbue a weapon (for example a BD VI bow, Gharu, diff 120, blah blah blah) and succeed - can someone who is NOT that race get the imbued effect while using the bow?
Answer: srand - The only thing that affects the imbued effect is the wielder's base attack skill. Heritage requirements, current mana, rank requirements -- those things only get involved when you are activating the item's spells, and don't affect the imbued effect at all.
Question: lewima - Why is it that in an economy based on pyreals, GOLD raises the value of an item, why shouldn't pyreal be the metal that makes it more valuable?
Answer: srand - The real reason is because gold already had about the drop rate I wanted at all levels of loot, and pyreal didn't. I didn't want to have to rearrange the drops rates of all the metals for all loot levels and then re-test them all. Besides, tinkering is a mystical process -- it doesn't have to make perfect sense. You don't actually wrap your weapon in velvet to help it hit more often, for instance. That would be silly.
Question: Villiam_Dcorsum - What magic imbue is best for lvls 1-50 archer?
Answer: srand - None of the imbued effects will leave you worse off than a non-imbued weapon. For instance, you will never drop below 10% crits (over the long run -- short term results depend heavily on the RNG).
Question: Gax - I have slain the Queen and now a have the Hea totem. I would like to turn it in for the magic staff to finish the rubble quest but I have no idea when to do this. The Aun leader does not tell me which item he is giving. Is this because I''m a Queenslayer? I have looked on player sites and do not see this clarified anywhere. It took some time to get this item and I would like to do it right the first time.
Answer: Orion - There are 3 phases that Hareltah goes through during the Queen's quest. During the first state he is peaceful, and when given the totem he will return the melee staff. In his second state he is worried that Wharu is rising and will reward those turning in the totem with a crossbow. In his final state he is prepared for the coming battle against Wharu and rewards those who turn in the totem with the magical staff. For each of these different states you need to watch the visual clues given by the character.
Question: Emo - Is there actually a way to activate the Great Machine(s) in the North Fork Damn on Marae, or is it simply part of the lore. I am not even looking for any hints, I am just wondering if I am wasting my time trying :)
Answer: Orion - Actually the great work turn On and Off all the lights on Ispar. But seriously the great work is a showpiece for the most part and a wonderful piece of lore that we have yet to utilize.
