A couple of snippets from what Q-3PO (= Kevin O'Hara, SWG Community Relations Manager) shared:
Hey folks,
You may have noticed that I've been out of office this week (as evident by Thunderheart doing the Tuesday Tips post, Friday Feature, etc.). I've been up in San Jose for the annual Game Developers Conference. It's an industry gathering for developers to share ideas, debate practices and drink...er...network.
My talks involved round tables with other community managers and producers to talk about successes and failures with running a pre-launch, beta and live community. I mainly shared that getting information to your players and good feedback from them is key. Collectively we agreed that posters should be encouraged to give both positive and negative feedback, but people intent on ruining communities just shouldn't have a home on official forums for any MMO. Overall, despite the difficulties with our first several months, a lot of people in the industry are looking at us as fairly well run community. I need to thank all of you for helping improve the tone here (especially Thunderheart, the correspondents and those who have worked with them on the big issues).
Go here to see Q-3PO's official forums post in its entirety! Check it out, I found it to be a very interesting read, and thought it was impressive that Q-3PO posted a report for us on a Friday night, right upon his return.
