Star Wars Galaxies: Starting Player Cities changing to only Theed or Mos Eisley

| 26 Apr 2004 12:58

You may have heard of some of the changes to the new player experience now on Test Center, such as helper droids (cute bright lime guys) and novice profession quests. One of those changes is to limit the starting cities for new characters being created. Thunderheart posted the following in a thread asking for feedback on the new systems now in place on Test Center:

This is old hat for you, but for new players coming into the game, we have an enhanced new player experience. The idea is to take that first experience after walking out of a Star Port for the first time and give it a little more direction. The objective is make the first few steps into Star Wars Galaxies a little more exciting and focused when the virtual world is new and wide open.

Starting Locations: After new players leave the tutorial they will start in large and constant population of other players; Theed on Naboo and Coronet on Corellia. This will immerse players in a busy location where they can quickly and easily get involved.

Based on the feedback received from players, SWG-Runesabre (Lead Designer, SOE), made the following announcement on page four of the thread:

In response to many players' suggestions to change the starting city away from Coronet due to the lag as well as deciding to choose a decidedly more iconic Star Wars city as the first visual impression for starting players, we have decided to change the starting city to Mos Eisley. Thank you all for your input!
